Hornbeam and Olive Flower Essence for Exhaustion

In the Bach flower essence flower remedy system there are two essences which address exhaustion and its various manifestations. Exhaustion plagues many people, the reasons we suffer vary from not enough sleep to improper eating. Exhaustion takes the form of weariness, lack of interest in the world and/or events, inertia and a general fatigue. The two flower essences that address these conditions are Hornbeam and Olive.

Before we dive into the remedies I would like to talk about the conditions of weariness and exhaustion for a while. The opposites of weariness and exhaustion are Vitality and Regeneration, these are physical qualities as well as mental, emotional and spiritual qualities. You can exert yourself mentally and end up physically tired and weary. And, you may find yourself emotionally exhausted and fail to find the energy to keep going.

 Hornbeam flower essence
In today's fast paced world mental exhaustion precedes physical exhaustion because most of us work at jobs that require mental level focus and concentration without much physical activity. For this I suggest a steady dose of Hornbeam flower essence. This is a truly amazing essence that will help you to shake free from the doldrums of the patterns you feel trapped in. Hornbeam flower essence is for mental exhaustion we all know the feeling, it sometimes comes as dread in the face of our daily routine. The mental fatigue this essence works with is around the dreariness of routine and not really having fulfilling tasks to preform. Here are some characteristics that indicative of those needing Hornbeam Flower Essence:
  • You feel you don't have the energy to face your day
  • You wake feeling more tired than when you went to bed
  • Expect work to be tiring, you lack enthusiasm
  • You feel heavy and tired all the time
  • You miss your vitality
  • You have that "Monday Morning" feeling often

Olive flower essence
Where as Hornbeam is related to exhaustion and weariness at the mental level the trickles down into the system, Olive flower essence works with physical exhaustion. This remedy is strongly indicated for those who take their physical bodies to the limit and end up suffering from it. It is indicated for those who are exhausted from:

  • not enough sleep
  • overwork
  • debilitating illness
  • poor diet
  • great productivity
Olive flower essence is for those who ignore the warning systems of the body. The body is keen to inform us when we have gone too far or are at the brink of such exhaustion. To spend yourself improperly eventually adds up to a depletion and exhaustion and olive flower essence can help you transition to healthier patterns and more vitality. When using Olive flower essence be sure to get enough rest, a physical check up and proper eating.

Centaury- The Caretaker

Centaury is one of the original 12 Healer remedies that Dr. Bach first created. Centaury flower essence addresses conditions that arise when we play the role of caretaker. Caring for another can and often is very rewarding, the gift of our presence being of service to another; it is truly a noble way of being, when in balance. And it is easy to fall out of balance when we care for another. This is because in general the person who choose to be a caretaker is a giver. They naturally have a giving nature and it is something they typically enjoy.

As a giver it is easy to over give because you seek to please. Now one does not need to be in the role of a caretaker to over extend themselves this way. Maybe you are just that type of person who likes to help others you enjoy being of service and find it hard to say "No". This one aspect, the difficulty with saying "No" is a key indication that Centaury flower essence could really help you. As a flower essence therapy practitioner I see it all the time.

I find the client who needs centaury is often good natured, kind hearted and a genuinely sweet and caring person. And, they fear saying "No" will make them come across a rude, unloving or uncaring. It is easy to see why they might think this and within this perspective is the failure to put themselves first. They forget to take care of their own needs. Everyone of us can best serve the world when we give from a place of strength rather than weakness or obligation.

I see a broad need for the use of Centaury in those who have forgotten how to flex their "No" muscles. This becomes a boundary issue, saying "No" creates a boundary and it separates from another or a situation. In the more new age circles where essences are popular there is great encouragement towards openness and often unclear or distorted boundaries. Because there is such a value placed on the concept of Oneness and being positive. But we need boundaries in order to evolve, to insulate, support and protect us as we grow.

Consider using Centaury Flower Essence if any part or parts of the following description resonates with you:
The person needing Centaury lacks clear boundaries and the ability to say ‘No’. Centaury types are weak willed and act to please others while neglecting their own needs. Centaury flower essence helps one to establish clear boundaries and strengthen the sense of self. It supports one to stay true to themselves and serve from a place of inner strength.

Bach's Mimulus

There are Mimulus flowers everywhere . . . well at least on my most recent walk through the desert. My walk took me through a canyon with a small spring fed stream. Mimulus love clear, fresh, flowing water and as far as my eye could see Mimulus lined the banks of this tender stream. It was  a winding sea of yellow through the slate grey and brown landscape of the desert wash.

Dr. Bach and Mimulus

Mimulus was the 3rd flower remedy Dr. Bach made, early on he noticed the significant healing potential of this flower. It truly is a lovely flower to behold and healing potential just radiates from the yellow flowers.

Mimulus in the Wild

I have come across this plant many times in the wild and I was surprised to find it here in this desert climate. But, it did have the one requirement that this plant craves and needs to thrive; a constant supply of pure, clear, clean, fresh running water. There was an abundance of that available and from this the plant has colonized the entire stream bed.

Mimulus For Addressing Fears

Mimulus is a type remedy, meaning it is good for the personality type that re-coils in shyness and acts with hesitation to the small challenges of life. It is for the known fears as opposed to Aspen for fears of an unknown origin. Fear has the power to impact, influences and subjugates human emotion and behavior. Yet its place in life is greatly exaggerated and over played.

Fear is a Low Vibration

Fear vibrates at a low frequency and when it is present in our minds and hearts it just drags us down in a spiral of contraction and negativity. Most of all FEAR inhibits us and often stops us from moving forward and taking constructive action. This forces us to contract and has no place in the advancement of life. It may serve as a protective force in certain circumstances but FEAR has become all to prevalent in our day to day life and what ever protectiveness it offered at a certain point becomes counterproductive.

The Trick of FEAR
F- False
E- Evidence
A- Appearing
R- Real

The trick of fear is that it actually does not exist outside of us, it is an internal experience created in concert with the mind, imagination and emotions. Unfortunately fear cancels the love of life that is present and available if we choose to allow it. The way that mimulus exhibits its vulnerability, is that it is willing to take risks. The river where it grows is subject to FLASH FLOODS! This lovely scene before me could turn for the worse at any moment. But it must take the risk to thrive that is the profound beauty of it. It is risking being washed away for its place in the sun.

Bach's Discovery

Bach discovered that Mimulus is the perfect remedy to address the fearful concerns of daily life, the fear of worldly things such as illness, poverty, of the dark, of being alone, of accidents and so on. These are fears of a known origin which in one sense is good because they then become easier to treat and heal from. By letting go of fear we can gain more trust in the goodness of life and life can flow elegantly and nourish us, they it does for Mimulus. Always straddling the edge between safe ground and constant flow this flower can teach us about trusting the river of life. With risk taking, straddling the edge, we grow and can overcome our fears.

Bach Flower Remedies for Sleep

White Chestnut:
Key among the 38 Remedies is White Chestnut, this remedy aids the mind to slow down its mental chatter and incessant thought cycling to bring about a restful mind. The great thing about this remedy is that you can use it for acute situations. My suggestion is to keep a bottle near your bed and take 2 drops directly from the stock bottle before laying down to sleep.

Sleep is like a dream come true for those who find it and a nightmare for those who it eludes. Not being able to sleep can lead to deep frustration and dissatisfaction. There are times when we have a hard sleeping due to immediate circumstances and sometimes it is chronic. There are a number of Bach Remedies that can aid you in having a good nights sleep.

Rescue Remedy: Next on list would be Rescue Remedy, the essences in this combination are helpful to curb acute anxiety and stress. It would be wise to consider Rescue Remedy when you are going through stressful or troubling times and this is the cause of your insomnia.

Vervain: In general Vervain is for the high strung type, the constant doer who is always on the go and planning what is next. Vervain flower essences will assist this type to take a more relaxed less edgy approach to life and tasks. Those needing this essence would be wise to consider using it throughout the day to assist with a more relaxed approach to life that will then translate to better sleep.

Impatiens: Similar to Vervain, Impatiens is more of a type remedy and from the name we can glean that this essence helps with impatience. Those needing this remedy may be generally impatient types or just going through a cycle where their patience is being tested. This is a great remedy that helps us to slow down and take a more eased approach to life. This remedy can also be used safely throughout the day.

Bach Remedies are safe to use either long term or only temporarily. They are non habit forming and non addictive. Bach flower essences simply help adjust the underlying reasons that lead to sleep disturbances in the first place. I suggest looking at your lifestyle to see what needs adjustment. Maybe you need to stop drinking caffeine after 3 pm or not eat so late. Whatever the reason Bach Remedies can be of great assistance to help us find the path of balance.

Please note Bach Flower Remedies promote balance. Using them will not lead to drowsiness or sleepiness throughout the day. By promoting balance the flower essences help us feel happier, healthier and more alive.

Solar Flares and Yarrow Environmental Solution

Solar Flare activity has heated up this month and reports suggest that we will be seeing increased solar flare activity all year. Solar flares are intensely activating, sending masses of energy towards the earth in one fell swoop, within a solar flare are increased amounts of UV rays including X rays and other forms of radiation. While I do not believe the doomsdayers regarding this being the end of the world I would like to note that this does expose us to greater levels of harmful rays emitted by the sun and I do think some precautions are wise in this respect.

Yarrow Environmental Solution
Thanks to the research conducted by FES in response to the Chernobyl accident we have FES's Yarrow Environmental Solution. It was designed to help the body with stand the harmful effects of radiation, it is a combination of flower essences, herbs and Celtic Sea Salt. It is a simple formula and is great to use whenever we are exposed to harmful radiation whether from the sun or from electronic devices. This formula can be enhanced by the addition of Bach's Walnut, as walnut is noted for its protective qualities as well.

Yarrow Environmental Solution is also a smart essence combination for the helping to protect us from the high levels of electronic radiation we are now more subject to. Modern technology has graced our lives with much in the way of innovation and at the same time brought more radiation concerns into our lives. Especially from computers and cell phones, as well as cell towers, which are a major contributor to E-Smog, electronic radiation pollution.

How to Use Yarrow Environmental Solution:
For best results take 2-4 drops directly from the stock bottle in the morning and then two more times throughout the day, depending on your exposure level. Also using Bach's Walnut at 2 drops 2-4 times a day for added support. When using essences for physical level treatment it is best to use them at stock level, as this provides the greatest level of support and protection.

To take it one step further and for added benefit make a spray bottle solution with essences, to address the concerns mentioned in this post add 7 drops of Yarrow and Walnut flower essence to a spray. To make a spray solution purchase a 2 oz bottle from your local health food store, fill it with spring water, a little alcohol and some essential oils if you like. You can use this to spray your aura and your living/working space.

To purchase any of the essences listed above please visit our website, www.essencealchemy.com

Homosexuality on Trial

There is a case in the NJ courts about a man accused of spying on another man. It is all happening because one of the men jumped off the George Washington Bridge, he identified as homosexual, you may have heard of him, he was a Rutgers student. There currently is a man on trial for invasion of privacy and intimidation, he set up a webcam. Through his webcam he saw the other man involved in a homosexual encounter.

As I read the details and follow this case I wondered; What is really on trial? I don't really know but I can surmise and give my own perspective. Homosexuality and homosexuals are marginalized and I would venture to say that in a sense homosexuality and our ability to legitimately accept ourselves and others is on trial.

Really why is this happening why can't we accept other people? I normally do not write about issues as personal as this but I felt compelled because on the national stage this is still a debate. We are all entitled to our views and I get concerned when I hear rancor regarding the personal lives of Americans. I am so hesitant to say this but I will because I feel it is pertinent. When we have a candidate running for nomination for president who is so anti-homosexual it bothers me. I am talking about Mr. Santorum, who in the past has equated homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia.

He is entitled to his views but these views are dividing people and this division is happening inside and outside of us. I don't know what it is like to be ridiculed for my sexuality(I identify as heterosexual). Sexuality is such a fundamental tribal identifier and that someone would feel less than because of it and seek to end their life is a tough pill to swallow.

There is one man on trial but in a sense it is much larger; we may not understand another persons behavior we may think it is gross but to ridicule another? This only points to the one ridiculing and his/her inability to process and deal with their uncomfortable feelings regarding a situation.

It is not them, the other that is the problem because to point a finger without examining your own situation leads to more internal and external division. And, if we are ever to heal as individuals, a nation, a species etc we need to look into those places we fear and accept those parts that we reject.

People it is time to stop the ridicule, the internal division; it is time to take personal responsibility for how we feel and stop the blame.

Because this blog is flower essence themed I thought to mention some here:

Calla Lily: Sexual Self Acceptance: This essence is for clarity about sexual identity, sexual self acceptance and the integration of masculine and feminine qualities.  Treats confusion or ambivalence about sexual identity and gender and wounding due to cultural gender bias.

For acceptance of the shadow and other uncomfortable feelings look at the monkeyflower family.

The Monkeyflower Family: This group of essences deals with fears, a variety of fears related to emotions and our emotional life.
Pink: This essence treats fear of being exposed, due to feelings of shame, guilt or unworthiness. Those needing this remedy are often afraid to be seen both literally and metaphorically. Pink Monkeyflower helps one feel at ease emotionally and encourages emotional openness and honesty. It also helps one have the courage to take emotional risks with others.

Scarlet: This essence is for those who are afraid of deep emotions and intense feelings. Often these intense feelings or emotions get repressed out of fear. Scarlet Monkey Flower helps one to get in touch with strong emotions, it promotes emotional honesty and integration of deep emotions, especially of the emotional ‘shadow’.  It also gives people the courage to express intense feeling and emotions. Useful for sexual repression.

Sticky: This essence balances the integration of human warmth and sexual intimacy; it helps one to express deep feelings of love and connectedness, especially in sexual relationships. Helpful when there is a fear of intimacy, repressed sexual feelings and an inability to experience warmth in sexual experiences.

Hibiscus: Warmth and responsiveness in sexuality; integration of soul warmth and bodily passion.  Helps when there is an inability to enjoy sexual experiences; lack of warmth due to abuse or exploitation.

Pine: Useful when guilt is the driving force behind sexual behavior. As a society we are not taught how to handle our sexual energy in a healthy way, it often comes with a large amount of guilt and creates a cycle. Where we indulge then feel guilty, Pine will help stop this viscous cycle of self incrimination and help you to accept yourself and your behaviors.

Snapdragon: This essence is for mis-placed libido energy, when the libido is strong and is repressed energy builds up. This pent up energy has a tendency to be expressed as anger, aggression and frustration. It is often misdirected and leads to harm.

Holly: Holly is an excellent remedy to treat anger, jealousy and envy. It is helpful if something in your personality prevents you from experiencing happiness. This can be very corrosive when left unchecked. Holly is also helpful for treating bitterness and suspicion, which corrupts the ability to love. This essence engenders compassion in the heart and soul, enhancing the ability to love inclusively. This is a tremendously powerful remedy that helps you feel and channel love through your heart and extend it to others. Dr. Bach felt Holly was one of the most important and widely applicable remedies.

Dr. Oz and Rescue Remedy

Dr. Oz's recommendation for Rescue Remedy is welcome news, because Rescue Remedy is such an effective and useful supplement, that will help you cope with the stresses of daily life. Therapists around the world have been recommending Rescue Remedy  for acute anxiety, niggling fear and emotional upset for over 80 years.

What is it?
Rescue Remedy is simple formula made from five wildflowers, it originated in England and is now available in most continents around the world. The trusted formula of Clematis, Impatiens, Star of Bethlehem, Rock Rose and Cherry Plum has remained the same ever since Dr. Bach made it up in the mid 1930's.

Lets examine the individual flowers in the Rescue Remedy Combination Dr. Oz has been recommending.

Cherry Plum is helpful when you feel you are at a breaking point, experiencing great suffering and are about to lose control. You may also find you’re trying desperately to control feelings. Cherry plum is a light-filled essence that promotes growth and calmness while dealing with inner turmoil.

Clematis supports you in staying awake and present. It ushers in clarity of consciousness and brings awareness clearly to the present moment. Clematis helps bring greater clarity and awareness to life and help you take more practical action.

Impatiens treats impatience and it supports your emotional growth: if you tend to talk, eat and drive fast; anger quickly and have a fiery temper. Impatiens can be of great benefit if you rush through your days with little joy. This remedy enhances the ability to slow down and enjoy the flow of life. It treats general irritation and intolerance helping you embrace life and circumstances with greater ease and flexibility.

Rock Rose flower essence fosters, great courage and grounded presence when facing catastrophic situations. This essence helps one to stay centered and remain grounded to effectively deal with challenging circumstances.

Star of Bethlehem is a powerful remedy for addressing recent or past traumas. Its deeply soothing and comforting energy fosters wholeness, unity and relief from the most troubling of situations.

Dr. Oz Rescue Remedy and Sanity

Am I Normal? Recently there was a segment on Dr. Oz titled "Are You Normal or Nuts", if you have to ask chances are you are normal. You may have behavior that differs from the rest but that doesn't make you "nuts" and in all fairness there is no such thing as "normal". There seems to be an idea that a normalcy exists when in reality we are all unique individuals. We may have behaviors that are uniquely ours and the a question to ask in light of this is: Does the behavior serve you or is it taking away from the quality of your life?

The questions on the Oz show were in regards to OCD behavior, Obsessive, Compulsive Disorder, fears and unresolved emotions showing up in dreams.

I personally like the Dr. Oz show and think he has brought a new perspective to the limelight, that only an MD could do. I say this because he often talks about alternatives to main stream orthodox medicine but because he is a heart surgeon what he says has credibility. So when I heard him mention one of my most favorite topics flower essences I felt compelled to chime in and expand on the topic.
Dr. Oz and Rescue Remedy
Dr. Bach's Rescue Remedy is easily the most widely used and recognized flower essence formula. Dr Oz's Rescue Remedy recommendation came in response to a question of how to deal with paralyzing fear. From a general perspective Rescue Remedy could benefit the person in such a situation. But a paralyzing fear that persists for days leading up to an event would really benefit from a more nuanced approach.

Mimulus
I would need to speak with the person to get a sense of what is going on but right off the bat I would give this client mimulus; which is for fear of known things. A one month treatment cycle with mimulus would help to shift this behavior so it no longer bothers the individual. There is a difference between addressing a symptom and treating the person. One provides temporary relief the other is a long term solution. I am personally more interested in providing my clients with long term solutions.

Rescue Remedy
This formula was developed in the 1930's a much different time than the one we live in. It was developed to address acute stress and anxiety that is the result of trauma or shocking news, such as a death in the family etc. There is a simplicity to this formula which makes it easy to use but as an essence practitioner I think it is being misused. As with many "alternatives" it is falling prey to the allopathic mindset, meaning it is being used to suppress a symptom and not fully address the underlying causes.

Flower Essences and The New Paradigm
Using flower essences therapeutically presents a new paradigm, it is a dramatic shift from how we currently think about health treatment. To sum up the new paradigm as best I can; I would say the New Paradigm that essences work in is to address the person not the aliment. Our current system is diseased focused, this narrow approach is normal, to want to cure a disease is totally legit. And, what if we could take a broader perspective? What if we could see the person behind the disease and treat the person as well?

Bach's Vision
As a doctor Bach had this vision; it revealed itself in his case load and led to the development of flower remedies. What Dr. Bach noticed were these two points:
  • The same personality types had the same aliments and complaints
  • People coming for single disease treatment have similar personalities
With that he concluded the following:
  • There must be a way to strengthen and balance the personality to protect from disease.
  • There must be a way to treat the personality directly and alleviate the disease.
Do you get what he was doing? He was pioneering Mind/Body medicine, his keen observation and dedication to wellness is and was revolutionary. Treat the personality so the patient regains health. I felt the need to give a concise explanation of what Bach was up to before moving on because I feel it is important to understand the intent and vision of the work if we want to get sound results when using essences.

Dr. Oz and Flower Essences
The proper use of flower essences requires a nuanced understanding if we are to truly address the causes of certain conditions. While I do support his promotion of Rescue Remedy, I want people to understand the depth of healing flower essences can bring to person. This is important because if flower essences are mis-used the results will be paltry and this will lead to flower essences getting dismissed as not helpful.

Honestly folks if you really want the best results from using flower essences, you need to work with a skilled practitioner. There is an old saying that applies here: "A doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient." I do welcome the attention essences receive when respected folks like Dr. Oz mention them and as someone who specializes in flower essences I seek to clarify his good intent.

Pain and the Inevitable Process

How is your pain body? Is it strong and getting stronger? Do you feed it with news reports of dire situations, atrocities, outcomes unheard of and murders unsolved?

Pain is part of the inevitable process of life; what do you do with your painful feelings, memories and emotions? Where do you keep them stored away? Will you let others see them if asked?

Do you feed your pain, with the 'truth' of the pain and suffering of the world?

I ask these questions in acknowledgement of your pain and the pain of the world. Let this inquiry serve as a light not an accusation, it can be a guide for times when we need guidance. If your pain is unexplored let this message be like a hand offering solace, support and recognition. What we need in times like these is a safe place and listening ear.

I have no answers for essences to help you, though there are many. I know this because flower essences help to soften the emotional body and keep it fluid. And, this can help us move through pain and suffering with grace, greater ease and greater respect for the process that our pain leads us through.

I post this message out of respect and concern; I am not concerned about the 'world' I am concerned about the human heart in the world. For those out there in need of a message that find this blog post, if you are in pain may the spirit of this message be a glimmer of hope, to assist you in your next step along the path.

Addresing Porn Addiction with Flower Essences

The internet has brought many changes to world and like any other advance in human technology there is a shadow and light because we carry the shadow and the light within us. Technology seems to have magnified each aspect as it has no allegiance.  With sexuality a most potent part of the human experience there is the potential for either exaltation or debasement. The only other energy we deal with that has similar consequences is money and there is a strong relationship between the two. But, we will focus solely on sexuality and the exaggerated shadow potential exploited by the internet.

The internet, on par with the wheel as one of the greatest of human inventions, possibly. The internet has led to pornography being much easier to access and both the medium and content play off each other. I recently read a piece in a local newspaper, it was in the advice column, a young woman of 14 was asking for dating advice. The boy she was interested in confessed to her that he had an internet porn addiction.  A 14 year old, young impressionable developing boy, saturating his consciousness with unreal images of hyper sexuality, folks, I am concerned by this.

The delicate nature of human sexuality requires us to be as impeccable as possible with our behavior, so we avoid spreading undue pain, suffering and trauma. Our sexuality has such a deep influence on our lives and once we take responsibility for it and recognize its power and influence we can begin to  handle this energy with greater love and awareness. But if we continue to repress it be scared of it and generally shove into the shadows of our life, it will come out in deformed and disfigured ways that are only half of its potential. This is what I see with pornography; it is a half expression, it is the gross physical devoid of the sensitive emotional side. It expresses power and aggression along with a sexualization of this type of behavior.

Flower Essences
There are many aspects to this picture that flower essences touch on and in the rest of this post you will learn about which essences apply to issues related to 'clandestine' sexual behavior and compulsion.

Useful when that repair damage from this lack of core bonding.

The Gifts of Longing

The human experience is quite a profound journey our souls undertake. The learning our souls receive from being on earth with all its beauty and complexities cannot be measured. When I speak of soul I am not referring to anything abstract or fringe, the soul is an essential "part" of our whole selves. Orthodox medicine has left soul out of the picture, soul is the domain of religion.  Well at least this is how it has been for a while.

The beauty of essences and the beauty of Dr. Bach is that soul is not separate from the equation of health and wellness, do I say it is essential? This talk of soul may rub some the wrong way and that is ok, for there is no scientific proof of a soul, you can't point to it or pin it down. There are many things we cannot see and we don't deny their importance either. Air, Electricity, Thoughts, Memories and so on, but we accept that they are there and carry on.

Dr. Bach was a keen fellow an extremely keen fellow who bucked the system and forged a new path, he was a true pioneer, he understood soul and its importance. And, if you read some of his writings it is apparent that he knew the depth soul played in the realm of human experience, wellness and well being. Not many folks are going to come out and say this: The health of your soul is important to the health of your body and life.

There are times in life when the crucible of existence forges our life in deep and profound ways, times when our soul is tested. This testing also works on the psyche and all its complexities. And, if we can remember in these times the importance of our soul and its role in the play of our lives we might find some solace.  I want to talk about two remedies that can be helpful in times of such soul testing: Sweet Chestnut and Cherry Plum.

Sweet Chestnut: is like a friend from the realm of nature; extending a hand of service to soul and psyche as it swirls in the depths of human suffering. This suffering is the crucible; it is something we all go through more than once in life, it is a gift, challenge and marks a change in how we live life. While in the throes of such a challenge we may not see it as such and feel that we are being punished.  It is agonizing to feel so alone in our pain but if you see it through you will come out changed. Sweet Chestnut is beneficial for times referred to as 'the dark night of the soul' times of deep despair, human pain, anguish and soul suffering. Sweet Chestnut offers support a deep level fostering faith in adversity and communion in solitude; it is a profound remedy that offers support for times of deep suffering. On a different level, tooth aches can cause deep agony and consume us with turmoil and I have found Sweet Chestnut works well for this and other times when physical pain tests our psyche.

Cherry Plum: this light filled remedy can help to illuminate the dark corners of the mind when the pain of our suffering brings such mental anguish that we fear we may lose our minds or end our life.  Cherry blossoms fill the spring air with light, the gentleness of their white blossoms are celebrated around the world. Their light bearing quality can help the soul that feels it is on the edge of collapse due to emotional pain and stress. During these times the quality of surrender can help to release the pain and tension; the light Cherry Plum carries is a spiritual light which can guide the soul as it moves through its challenges.

In these days of pharmaceutical glory we have become accustomed to the idea of a fix, this is very normal and I will say in-balance with society. How are we to function in our day to day under such pain and stress? If a pill can help us to carry on then we are functioning in a way that is in-balance with the dictates of our social order.  Note the one letter difference and phonetic sameness of imbalance and in-balance.

But, all this leaves out the function of the soul and its importance and how we can grow as people from such profound anguish. I am not knocking drugs, just pointing out the limited range in which they function. Where as you have a great range that you can experience and the more you embrace this range the more at peace you may become with the ebbs and flows of the soul life, psyche and emotions.

May the gifts of the flowers bless your soul with healing touch of nature.

Bloodroot Flower Essence

Bloodroot
Bloodroot flower is an eastern woodland plant, it is common but threatened because its habitat is shrinking. It is a low growing plant with a striking white flower.  As a flower essence it is used for issues related to identity.  Kate Gilday of Woodland Essences says this about it:
"Trusting one will be protected as one moves forward in her/his evolution. Helps one find the courage and inner resources to heal old wounds and move from a place of despair and darkness to the light. Embracing one’s inner light."

The essence is from her forest flower and At-Risk-North American plant flower essence kits; which is available at our webstore.

Desert Alchemy also has a bloodroot flower essence, they have this to say about it:
"
Bloodroot is for those who exclude themselves, or feel ostracized, from a group or community, usually because of deep feelings of unworthiness. It helps heal the wounds of rejection and free us from the bonds of unworthiness."

This essence is about healing wounds related to the past often infringe on us in the present. This past wounding is often related to our early life experiences with family and community. When we heal these foundation issues and experiences at a deep level we can bring about improvement in all areas of life.

Scarlet Monkeyflower flower essence: If we have challenges expressing our anger (often the case when Mars is retrograde), we sometimes think that by just ignoring or repressing it, the feelings will go away. Concerned About World Events?

THE SKY IS FALLING? IS THE SKY FALLING?

Are you plagued by the state of the world? Do you feel oppressed by the potential for disaster? If you tune into the news you might just think the sky is falling. Should you be concerned? What should you do? There does not seem to be a right answer but one thing you definitely can do is maintain a positive attitude. Essentially that is all. Some might say this is foolish and you are fooling yourself. Chances are they are tied into the doom and gloom of it all.

Maintaining a Positive Outlook
What else do you have? What is really yours? It is one thing you do have control over, how you choose to view and/or interpret the what is going on around you. If you get caught up in the emotions of things chances are you will begin to loose perspective. You can remain detached and engaged from your chosen perspective. Where does a negative perspective ever get you? Besides being detrimental to the immune system, there is enough negativity out there and you do not need to feed the cycle with your energy. It is a choice, remaining positive is no more illusionary than remaining negative. I will admit there is a weight to issues with grave concerns but how do you respond?

Flower Essences
This site and blog is about flower essences, so you should have guessed I would have gotten to them at some point. There are from FES, Flower Essence Services.

Mountain Pride and Scotch Broom

Mountain Pride
The name alone suggests strength and determination and this essence is about strength and determination in the face of challenges. And, folks these are challenging times and they challenge our ability to maintain peace of mind and a positive outlook, which is what we need. Use this essence to encourage "forthright masculine energy"; sounds refreshing to me, straight forward honest masculine energy. The essence description goes on, . . . "which confronts and transforms" what they are talking about is the archetype of the spiritual warrior. A very useful energy for ones own life and life as a whole.

Scotch Broom

Scotch Broom
This bright yellow floor is harbinger of optimism, it shines brightly and heralds a new the approach of a new attitude, anchored in an sunny outlook. The joy of flowers and the power of color win again. Scotch broom is indicated for those who are depressed and disheartened by world events. Gosh, at this rate wouldn't mind giving this to everyone . . . Scotch broom helps us to feel more optimistic about world events and as we know this can go a long way in helping to enjoy life in general.

Bottom line is we can all do our part to help make this world a world we want to live in. We can do this by taking charge of our own thoughts and feelings. I feel this is important because it is personally empowering and the more we feel empowered in our own life the better. I understand there is not much we can do about geo-politics but we can at least make our sphere of the world a better place, essentially that is all we can do.

Protection Essences

Let's explore "Protection Essences" and how they help to insulate, shield and protect our energy bodies. We live in a multi dimensional universe, teeming with unseen energies some are supportive and some not. These energies may come from another person, electronic devices or from within ourselves as voices of the past or from less than supportive parts of our psyche. This post will explore essence to help you maintain a positive outlook on life. Maintaining positive energy and feeling safe can go a long way in helping your overall sense of well being. It is a key in the pursuit of health, well being and personal fulfillment. Seems perfect for today Friday the 13th and all its superstitions.

Walnut

I feel this Bach remedy is the #1 go to remedy when you are making a break from the past. This essence is beneficial during times of change and transition that mark progress in a new direction. Examples include moving, changing careers or ending a relationship. These are some of the more obvious examples. On a very keen and subtle level Walnut insulates and protects us from outside influence so that we can proceed in our direction of choice. Meaning you've decided to move forward, yet there are many things from the past that are still influencing you. Walnut flower essence helps to break the "spell of the past" so you can proceed forward with greater ease, confidence and assurance.

Yarrow

This essence is the number one go to essence to enhance the integrity of the auric field. Our aura is like a shield which protects us from unwanted energetic influences. By strengthening the auric field we become less susceptible to negative influences. This is vital because negative influences rob us of life vitality. Use this essence when you want to protect yourself from energetic vampires, negative/pessimistic people and from areas you feel are toxic to the psyche. This is also useful when we are in environments with a high level of
e-smog, from electronic devices. This essence is made by FES.

Angelica
This essence offers us Angelic support, as its name suggests. Angelica has a very distinct action and is useful in times of upheaval, stress and major change. This essence seals our energy field in a softening and protective blue light. Angelica is a very soothing, comforting essence, great for children who feel vulnerable and unsafe. This essence is made by FES.

Garlic
This essence acts as a repellent against outside influences. Garlic sets up a vibration in the energy field that is not appealing to parasitic and adverse influences. Historically it was used to ward off evil influences and the essence works in the same way. To vibrationally repel parasitic, vampiric and other influences that drain us energetically. This essence is made by FES.

Mountain Pennyroyal
This essence helps repel negative thought forms as well as protect you from negative thought forms you may have already absorbed. It enhances strength and clarity of thought and encourages a positive mental attitude. This essence is made by FES.

Closing Thoughts
These remedies can play an important role in the treatment process and in everyday life. Your mental integrity and positive outlook go a long way to creating what is termed 'reality'. If you are in a cycle of positive energy and flow this energy into your life, you will find life responds accordingly. The basic foundation of life is vibration and managing your vibration is key to health and healing. I believe in the power of these remedies and the power of positivity in helping you achieve improved health and well being.

Before I go I want to mention one last essence.

Ti Plant
This is a really unique essence and its latin name is a clue to the action of this essence. The latin name for the Ti plant is cordeyline terminalis. This essence is an important cord cutter, not only does it cut cords but it carries a huge amount of light into the system. Its white light potential is almost blinding. Ti plant was used by the native people of Hawaii to break hexes. I have a tag line for this essence: "Clears the Path to Power" the power referred to here is personal power in your own life. This essence is a gift and carries huge potential for use in a variety of situations. This essence is made by Elemental Garden Remedies.

My heartfelt wish is for you to all live a happy healthy life and share you goodwill with all.

Essences For Anxiety

It has come to my attention this case of modern day anxiety, like a dull hum that pulses through the lives and minds of neighbors, friends and colleague. I would venture to say that the media is implicit in this type of fear mongering as well as politicians and corporations.

It is like there is a doomsday story around every corner and topic with grave implications seem to have more value and have become the status quo. This is particularly important to be aware of as we have now entered 2012, a year with many predictions. In my view we are at the cusp of a major change that will actually move us towards a more peaceful and harmonious world. Be steady, face your fears squarely and remember that

. . . serenity, peace, calm and balance are actually the backdrop which frames existence. What I find particularly disconcerting is how widespread mild anxiety is. Anxiety is a fear of the future; in the case of modern day anxiety it is a vague fear of the future. This vague fear seems to me to be encouraged by the media, in a rather titillating fashion. To live in this state of constant fear and danger is damaging to the immune system and completely shatters ones peace of mind.

In the Bach Flower Remedy system there are a few essences which address fear and anxiety as I have been discussing, here is a list of remedies that may help.

Aspen: This remedy is for unexplainable fears and anxiety that stems from the psyche. Usually these fears are related to impending evil; something that lurks in the shadows. The characteristic of the fear associated with this remedy is fear of something unexplainable; of something that may happen. It is like fear of potential disaster.

Mimulus: This remedy deals with fear but more in the realm of shyness. It is a fear of known things, such as a fear of flying, driving over bridges etc . . .

Rock Rose: This remedy is for terror and or panic, when fear has escalated to the point of debilitation. This remedy is indicated for a state called a 'panic attack' at times when one is paralyzed by fear.

There seems to be an assumption that we need this type of fear, that it keeps us vigilant and without it we may fall victim to another attack. It is promoted as a pseudo security measure. One can be vigilant, watchful and aware without falling victim to unnecessary fear and anxiety.

With peace and good will I wish you a Happy New Year.
